The second of maybe 4 pieces of swag from that Anime North week. This time, we go back to my usual flavour of hitting them where they ain't, purchasing figures that out of favour with the hip kids.
I've never played Persona 3 outside of the tidbits introduced to me in the Persona Q game on 3DS (still gotta crack open Persona Q 2), but the game did introduce me to the characters, including the clockwork knight of the series, Aegis.
Doing a bit more research, I learned not only there were several flavours of Figma Aegis, which admitted confused the hell out of me, but also there were two other Persona related robobabes - Metis, and of course Labrys.
From what I can cobble together, Labrys is a character that was apparently introduced in the Persona 3 manga, but for the purposes of video games, was formally introduced in the Persona 4 Arena fighting game. Like Aegis, Labrys is an Anti-Shadow weapon, and served as the basis for future generations of machines such as Aegis. Through the magic of narrative and plot devices, she's killed at some point in the past and resurrected in the present time to join the cast of Persona 4A.
I'm probably glossing over an encyclopedias worth of data, so I'll stop here.
Back to the point, older Persona stuff isn't as in demand these days (save for the Protagonist and Aegis, which were reissued I think in 2018 or so?), so I was able to negotiate the sale of this figure at Nominoichi for $20.
Labrys comes with quite a few bits and bobs. The figure comes with three expressions (smiles, attacking, and the usual "possessed by shadow" look), two front hair parts (unvisored/visored)her battle axe/jet pack, a shaped plastic chain and actual metal chain, both used for achieving her rocket punch attack, with a booster effect for the arm in question. The shaped plastic one is used when you want an aerial flight path, I guess, for lack of better terms whereas the metal one is just a limp metal chain.
Also included are the usual assortment of hands, and in this case, TWO dynamic stands (one for the figure, one for the axe or arm), all packed into your standard sized Figma box.
Keep that stand handy because Labrys isn't standing on her peg legs unaided.
Placed side by side with Aegis, you can see how the Labrys design influenced Aegis (though, in reality it was probably the other way around), particularly with mine seeing how my Aegis is in the special edition Labrys colours.
I dig the overall aesthetic of Labrys. She's got the high school uniform motif going, along with long hair, combined with enough robot bits to remind you that you probably shouldn't think about smashing her. Giant oversized weapons are always adorable, and the rocket punch powers are just the icing on the top.
Built on the last iteration of the Figma 1.0 body (not that there was that much change between 001 and 199), the articulation isn't as good as that of Figma 2.0, but based on my play experience she's really only lacking upper chest movement independent of her abdomen area and of course, chest compress. Range of movement is generally very good, though one will need to remember to move the skirt out of the way in order to get the most out of her hips. All in all, all but the most extreme poses should be achievable, though with less subtly than compared to her 2.0 cousins.
Labrys also has some decent articulation in the hair alone, with her mane having a dedicated joint for movement, and that metal thing on her hair being on a hinge and can pivot. There's also some articulation built into the axe head.. I suspect it has something to do with the head being used as wings while on her back. The blue tube are of a soft rubber material and will move with the blade.
The various bits of armour/mechanical parts add some much needed bulk to the 1.0 body, so Labrys doesn't appear as spindly as some others in the 1.0 range - on a related note it also seems like with the later 1.0s, Max Factory got the size of the heads right. Speaking of robotic stuff, the wiring that runs along the side of her head is a nice touch, though the glue on mine has dried off resulting in a need to reassemble often.
Paint work is, as expected, solid across the board. True, there are a few soft spots always, and these are of course in the areas with finer details such as the stripes on her sleeves. The softer paint apps also appear on the soft rubber outfit. Other than that, nothing really much to complain about - no overspray, no missing paint applications. Decal work is very good, though there aren't too many of those on this figure. Build quality on the whole is top notch.
The end result is a figure that photographs quite well, especially now that I'm getting the hang of using a less harsh light supply. The actual posing, on the other hand... I'll keep practicing on that.
I think there's two more versions of Aegis I technically COULD get, but unless the price is really good, the only reason I'd get the Heavy Arms version is for the admittedly neat finger guns, and the original one to have one in scale with Metis, the Shaq of the Persona universe.
Till my next rambling....

Till my next rambling....
***Texas, 8:17 P.M:**
I’ve always missed the smell of home, because there was always a sense of comfort. When I left for Japan with my mentor Oddcrow at a young age, I wasn’t allowed to go back per the rules of the The Guild, even against my mentor’s wishes. My parents were worried sick—especially my mother; whom my dad remarried after getting away from my abusive birth mum.
She treated me and Jesse well despite having no children of her own. I can’t imagine how hard would it be to have one son being present, and the other unavailable. It’s a complete reversal now, as my younger brother is somewhere out there, unknown.
Connor: “Hola mama, I’m home.”
Mrs Arden: “Oh mi hijo, we’ve missed you.”
Connor: “Me too. It’s been a while. Where’s pops?”
Mrs Arden: “In the kitchen. Ocupado en el trabajo.”
Connor: “Veo. Here, I got the special sauces from Japan you’ve always wanted to try. Still love the flavour you made for me when I was little.”
Mrs Arden: “Oh thank you darling. I will tell your father we have extra food tonight! Make yourself home Connor, dinner will be ready soon enough.”
***
Mr Arden: “Son, is your love life still going good?”
Connor: “No padre, I’m too occupied. You know that already.”
Mrs Arden: “Oh my, Connor. You are always busy…how will any girl fall in love with someone with no time?”
Connor: “You already know I’m being an uncle as per Tyrone and Erin’s requests.
Mrs Arden: “They are doing well, hopefully. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them.”
Connor: “Parenting’s never easy ma. Neither is being a godfather. But I thought Jesse was going to be a better parent, since he had met a lot of guys…like Gary.”
I couldn’t help but mention my brother, proceeded by silence at the table for a few seconds, before mum decided to switch the conversation about my friends because likewise all parents do get along.
Mrs Arden: “Say hello to Mrs Shore and the Holts for me; we could do a senior vacation, what do you say, estimado?”
Mr Arden: “Why not? Like you kids altogether, we could plan something like that.”
Connor: “Pops, you could arrange a seniors trip, right? You’re good at doing that since it’s been a while.”
Mr Arden: “Of course! Friends are important! Now dig in, the food’s gonna get cold!”
***
Being away was guilty and emotional for me; and I felt sorry leaving Jesse behind. It was my mother often held onto that thought that I would come back home one day, staying strong, rooted in good belief. Nowadays when I’m around the house, we would talk about Jesse. Sometimes dad would be there to listen, but my mother asked his whereabouts when she felt it was appropriate—and I don’t blame her for that. I knew they did the same with me when Jesse was around, asking about me.
Mrs Arden: “So any news about little Jesse?”
Connor: “No, ma.”
Mrs Arden: “Son,
Connor: “My best bet is still off the grid. But I will let you know every day. I promise, I will bring Jesse home.”
Mrs Arden: “I know you will, mi hijo. Now, come get dessert, we will stay up watching the soccer match!”
Connor: “Well ma, you better not keep me all night, because I’ve gotta visit my friends tomorrow…”
**Shore House, 7:47 P.M, Detroit, next night:***
I touch the invisible doorbell on the front door, where the magnetic locks come off. My mother kept me up all night, which explains the jet lag. My I check my lightweight briefcase I carry as my backpack, making sure my suit and important things are around. Quickly, a excited young girl prances out the front door to greet me, followed by her parents, Erin and Tyrone, who are my good friends.
Arisa: “Uncle Con! Uncle Con!
Connor: “How’s my favourite goddaughter doing?
Arisa: “I am happy! I miss you!
Connor: “I’m very glad to hear that. Have you been good to mommy and daddy?”
Arisa: “Yes! Mommy and daddy luv me!
Erin: “Our little princess has been doing well. How are you Con?”
Connor: “A bit tired from flying after meeting my own family. But glad to hear that. I bet she must have missed me when I wasn’t around for two weeks.
Ty: “She always does that, hugging everyone…”
Erin: “I wonder where she gets that from.”
Ty: “Ask your fabulous husband then.”
Erin: “Touche. Well Con, come in make yourself comfy. I’ve got some new hacking gadgets if you wanna take a look at it.”
***
Ty/Erin: “Oh, what a day…”
Connor: “I mean, kids are active so…it’s good to have a family around, someday she’ll take care of you both, and maybe me if I’m kicking.
Ty: “Yeah, hopefully man. I miss you though.”
Connor: I’m gonna move into the neighbourhood soon—I’ll stay longer if possible. Also thanks for the shadow cloaking thing guys, I do need some extras for globetrotting next week.”
Ty: “No worries. Hey Erinbug, you thinking your parents can help with babysitting? If not I could call my mom then, since she’s also nearby too.”
Erin: “I could really use a break myself darling. We need some time together.”
Ty: “Arisa’s been…a little wild with her powers.”
Connor: “Oh?” I guess it must be kinda hard having a superpower kid running. I wonder how’d our parents think of us when we all developed it.”
Erin: “I was a nuisance, and so were you Ty, right?
Ty: “My grandma loved it though.”
Connor: “Didn’t your folks separate while you were 7, Erin? I don’t recall seeing your parents around much.”
Erin: “It’s a long story…but dad and mom divorced because they were too busy. No time for me.
Ty: “Still busy even now with barely time for our little princess. But Erin and I love each other, and we have to strengthen our private times—“ (gets elbowed)
Erin: “Darling…”
Ty: “Ow—sorry babe. Anyways, we’re gonna start training Arisa with her powers. It’s like a hybrid mix of ours combined.”
Connor: “Interesting. At least you both enjoy the post-spy retirement life fits, and so does being a parent.”
Erin: “Oh Connor, we have a one more surprise.”
Connor: “What’s this one? Birthday cake pranking like we did since second grade?”
Ty: “Nah dude…Erinbug’s expecting for 2 months now. We’re getting twins.”
Connor: “Congratulations, both of you. Shall we have dinner to commemorate this announcement?
***
I almost choked at the idea of my friends having children, anticipating the thought of a newborn gaining superpowers, but I brush it away with a smile. Looks like this will be a new job for me to tackle someday, and recalling what my parents said, the ideas of settling down flash through my head—maybe I’m more averse in wanting a relationship, I don’t know.
Memories of my brother well up to my head again, how we’d be taught to control our powers.
And then they’re gone.
Jesse.
Where are you?
I really hope you’re here right now. I miss you. I bet you wanted kids as well, with Gary, your partner who’s been waiting as long as I have….
You were intended to be Arisa’s godfather, not me.
Not me, Jesse. It’s you…

The second of maybe 4 pieces of swag from that Anime North week. This time, we go back to my usual flavour of hitting them where they ain't, purchasing figures that out of favour with the hip kids.

So I know you guys follow me for the dolls and I promise I will stick to that, this won't be regular thing, but I was listening to music earlier and if you don't know I assign songs to characters. Knox, Dexter, Rags and Wolf all have their own playlists on my ipod while more minor characters might only have one song, well I heard the song that I assigned these two and I was all inspired to write their backstory.
Even though I'm very unlikely to ever get these two as dolls for a few reasons, I just thought I would put it up anyway :)
If I was to get these two, I haven't decided on a head sculpt (maybe Supia Muriel), but they would be on Doll Chateau bodies just to give you a picture ^-^
These are two of the bad guys from Knox's story and probably the most dangerous ones at least the most unpredictably dangerous.

Jillian and Jennifer McCready
(btw mad points to anyone who can spot both references in their names ^-^ hint: one of them is an old British tv show)
RIOT agents, King and Bentley sit down outside a café in Toronto. King orders a coffee, black. Bentley orders double cream in his. As the waitress leaves the conversation begins.
King takes a sip of his coffee and looks over Bentley, "so you're the newest schmuck to be assigned the McCready case huh?"
"I guess so" Bentley smiles nervously
"How much do you know about them?"
"Not much" Bentley shakes his head, "all it said in the file was that they're a pair of sisters, uh dangerous criminals"
"That kind of attitude will get you killed" King says, his face is stony.
Bentley nods quickly.
"Ahhh" King sighs and runs his fingers through his graying hair, "ok, I guess I'll have to tell you the whole story..."
"It all started with the that cult down in Texas; The True People they called themselves. Well the girls parents were members, and they were certainly true believers, gave up their home, all their money, everything to go live on the ranch down there. The girls were born shortly after. Jillian and Jenifer McCready. From all accounts I've heard, everyone was ecstatic about them. Identical twin girls supposedly a lucky sign. I wonder if they still think that. The girls were always a little odd. I've heard it's common for twins especially identical twins to have a bond, but these girls... they wouldn't leave each others side, ever. Former members of the cult told me, if you forced the girls apart even when they were just babes all they would do is scream. Scream and cry until they were together again, and you couldn't wear them out. If they wore themselves out from screaming they would start up again as soon as they woke up. So they just let um' stay together"
Bentley nodded, "when did they start...?"
"Not right away," King cut him off, "they had to work up to that. See it started with family pets. First the real small ones. The girls had a hamster, one day it escaped, never seen again. So the parents got them a new one, that one escaped to. See the girls were smart even when they were little they knew better than to get caught. Then cats disappearing. No one thought much of it. After all they were out on a ranch everyone assumed it was coyotes. Until their mother caught them. They were just nine years old, they're Mom caught them out in the woods behind the family home, skinning a cat. Poor animal was still alive"
Bentley swallowed and put down his coffee, "what did she...?"
"Do? Well she yelled at um' like any mother would. The girls didn't like that. They turned on her. From the police reports I gathered, it was her screaming that finally got the attention of the neighbors. They pulled the girls off her, but not before she was mutilated beyond repair."
"Oh she's still alive" King said answering Bentley's unasked question, "I talked to her once, through her husband. They're still married. She can't move her mouth so well anymore" he indicated with his finger.
Bentley shivered despite the warm weather.
"That was what got them locked up. Cults ain't usually so eager to give up members, and society ain't usually so eager to lock up kids, but everyone was willing to make an exception for these girls specially once photographs of what they did to their own mother got around. They ended up in a mental institution. They put um' in the kids wing at first, but the other kids were afraid of um' so they got moved to the adult end pretty quick. That's were things get interesting cause you see the psychiatrists there started talking to them, using them as experiments."
"Isn't that unethical?" Bentley had finished his coffee but he kept a tight clutch on the mug.
"Probably" King nodded, "didn't stop um' though and no one was going to stand up for the girls, they're own parents wanted nothing to do with them. Can't say I blame um' either. They started talking to the girls in interviews, I've listened to the recordings. Jennifer is the dominate one you can tell when they identify the voices, but the way they complete each others thoughts... it's like they can read minds. The phycaitrists, they asked them why don't like to be separated. You know what the girls said? They said it hurts to be separated because they are actually one being who was accidentally born into two bodies. They can't be separated because it literally feels to them like they are missing their other half. Now weather they're just crazy or there's something to it, you gotta admit that's one hell of an answer. It's also probably the reason the girls have turned on everyone except each other."
"Turned on?"
"They don't like anyone else," King explained, "there's no reasoning with them, or trying to win them over. I've watched the tapes of them being interviewed. They'll play nice sure, pretend they like you, but the moment you give them an opportunity, show them a weakness they'll turn on you. I watched the tapes from this one phycatrist, he had them for several years. Talked to them two or three times a week. He'd have chats with them, brought them candy sometimes. Well he wanted to try drawing therapy with them. So he gave them paper and a crayon each. It took three minutes for the guards to get into the room. In that time they had stabbed his eyes out with the crayons, jammed so much paper down his throat he couldn't breath. By the time the guards sedated them, he was gone. They kept them in isolation for most of the time after that."
"How did they escape?"
"That came a few years later. The girls were sixteen by that time. I'm sure you've heard of the terrorist group, The Diamond Dogs?"
"Of course" Bentley nodded.
"Well turns out the leader of that group, one Sadie Reynolds grew up in that same cult. She's a few years older than the McCready twins, but she remembered them. Now we can't prove it was her who broke them out. What we do know is that a week after the explosion at the mental institution that caused all the chaos letting the girls escape, she was seen on tape with the girls. She's been using them as her henchmen ever since. I don't know what's keeping the girls loyal to Sadie, my best guess would be that they aren't, they're just using her like they use everyone else until they stop needing her. We need to get them before then"
"but wouldn't it be in everyone's best interest to just let them take Sadie out? I mean she's one of the world's most wanted criminals," Bentley asked confused
"No, you're not understanding these girls are like a hurricane. They're an unstoppable killing force and there's no clear direction or reason to who they kill, as long as they are working for Sadie they are contained. They'll only kill who she tells them to and the rest of the time she is somehow keeping them at bay from the general public, but the moment they stop needing her, god help us, because they will be loose and everyone will be a potential target for them."
Bentley looked around the café tables, imagining the girls going after people.
"Starting to get the picture?" King asked
"Oh and get this..." he laughed the laugh of someone pushed too far, "their father failed to mention this to us until last year, but it turns out he was teaching them to hunt. The girls know how to use guns, well."
Bentley swallowed, "what do we do?"
"We hunt them down, as fast as we can before they can hurt anyone else, which we will fail at because Sadie is protecting them, but we will try and we never, never get caught by them"
"What happens if they catch us?"
"Well they say, Jillian is the kinder of the two so take a guess which one is her and beg that they kill you quickly"
Bentley swallowed again, "what uh, what happened to your last partner?"
"He guessed wrong".
Well Flickr Friends,
I've made the decision. 365 here I come. I've been playing with the idea for awhile, but I figured gotta stop thinking and start doing. If you are one of those who keeps up with my stream with some frequency I hope that you follow me along with this whole thing, telling me when I put up a crap picture or when it's great.
Alright now, about this picture. I've been feeling kinda beat down by life. Bullshit just seems to be flying my way. I know how good I have it off and life is good, but heres the thing...sometimes it can be a real bitch. But back to the point. This is another shot using the method I mentioned in yesterday's shot of Dad. I like it.
It right now represents how I'm feeling. Thanks Mom for being the model.

Oh my damn. The phone lines have closed, the ballots & votes have been
counted & tallied, and the judges have.. well.. well they've Judged.
And the winner, with one of the smallest marigins of victory THIS
reporter has ever seen, is... drumroll please... a little bit more...
let the suspense build... is it unbearable yet?... Here ya go...
theBigMac! Oooh!!! Did you just see that?! Do you believe in
miracles?! OmiGawd!! Well there you have it. The winner of
BigBurgerMatch '09 (brought to you by LongJohnSilver's "cath the wave
of FLAVOR!!) is theBigMac!! Whats that?! He's here?? There he is, ooh
ooh, theBigCarl, do you have any words?
theBigCarl: "it was a good match. I jus wanna say I got nuthin but
respect for the guy. theBigKing (remember him??) told me not to get
cocky, but I guess I let my arrogance get the best of me. All I can do
now is train & get ready for BurgerFest '10. it was truly an honor
just to be in the ring with a legend. Congrats 'Mac!"
Oh let's have a round of applause for theBigCarl, with the
graciousness of an burger that's been around for years. That's always
good to see. & now I have here with me, the MAN himself, theBigMac,
words 'Mac?
theBigMac: "Thankyou. Thank you! I jus wanna say big ups to the BigGuy
with whom ALL thing are possible, I see you Ronald, thanks for
believing in me... Umm... What else? Oh yeah, I Love you myWendys!!!
That's right, I'm telling the world! We did it BABY!! uh, yeah, I
gotta say it was a good match. theBigCarl, on paper look better than
me, I mean you're younger, ya got more meat, you're even cheaper, I
mean c'mon! JackInDBox told me that the Vegas odds were 7 to one
against me (then I asked if he bet against me, but he did that thing
where he has no expression on his face & we laughed). I just wanna
tell theBigCarl that i'm sorry for some of the things I said leading
up to the day. Things like 'kiss my MAC ass!!' & 'I'll sesame-SEE you
in hell!'. They were uncalled for. I want you to know that if you need
anything, the arches are always open. Oh, & thank you to all of my
FANS, you're why I do this! I love you all!"
Alright theBigMac, we'll let you go, you've go a big night of partying
ahead of you! Congrats once more.
Wow, just wow. I have to say that I agree with the judges on this one,
while theBigCarl might be technically superior (as the tale of tape
would lead you to believe) and some people would say that the EXTRA
piece of bread theBigMac has would hurt him more than help him, the
fact of the matter is: theBigCarl doesn't have that X-factor, panache,
hutzpah, etc. It's not as memorable as theBigMac, it doesn't make you
crave it in the middle of the night to the point where you will drive
however far it takes to get one and then get pissed off because you
realize only after you get to the drive thru that you're still in your
PJ's and you don't have your wallet but you do see an old lady across
the street and you wonder how hard would it REALLY be to rob her & if
need be, dispose of her body, I mean she's really old, how many people
would miss her, its really late @ night and shes aline. she must not
have anyone right?! Huh, where was I? Oh yeah, I mean you wouldn't rob
& kill this old lady (I've covered my ass legally ny saying that
right??!) but the fact is: theBigMac makes you feel this way &
theBigCarl doesn't. Case closed. I'm out!! -nymnul
Postcards are an incredible resource! I copped a few years ago that many of the local photographers knew what was visually interesting about their own place. Even down to the time of day that suits best. This scene turned up in many of the postcards in Perugia so it was a no-brainer that I simply turn up and capture one for myself.
I've never signed up to the idea that you shouldn't copy the work of others, in the sense that you should always try to create something unique. Bugger that! I'm happy to use these guys as my local visual scouts meaning I just have to turn up with my tripod, point the camera in the right direction and hope that the weather co-operates. This night it did!
An interesting thing about this shot is that there is actually thick double wire straddling the two columns at the top. I tried getting rid of it when I took the shot back in 2008. I was on Photoshop CS2 at the time and so only had the cloning tool to work with. Cloning gradated areas, like skies, is incredibly difficult to do well. I failed miserably and left them in. Now I'm on CS5 and it has the amazing Content Aware Fill Tool. A few minutes with it and violla! Ya gotta love technology!
I dont want to be anything other then what I have been trying to be Latley...Gavin Degraw I dont want to be
This song is about being you for you and not changing for anyone.I think this song is great. I listen to this when I have people around me that are trying to make me feel inferior, or out of place, etc. It just helps me to remember that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of me or what I'm doing as long as it feels right in my heart and in God's eyes. This song is based on two points of view, one being a member of society in general and another being a clebrity. He's basically sending out a message saying that although he's a celebrity, he shouldnt and wont change just beacuse of what people are saying and neither should anyone else have to change for someone, its cool to be yourself.
I wont change for anyone, if there is something I want to do I just do it, if not then I dont, I say how I feel, I know who I am and Im ok with it, some think that its a good thing others dont but I have come to that point in my life where i dont really give a damn about what other people think the only One Who Matters Is God.
~Not Trying to be anything other then Me~
I don't need to be anything other than a prison guards son
I don't need to be anything other than a specialist's son
I don't have to be anyone other than a birth of two souls in one
Part of where I'm going is knowing where I'm coming from
I don't wanna be anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking around rooms wondering what I gotta do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't wanna be anything other than me
I'm surrounded by liars, everywhere I turn
I'm surrounded by impostors, everywhere I turn
I'm surrounded by identity crisis, everywhere I turn
Am I the only one who noticed? I can't be the only one who's learned
I don't wanna be anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking around rooms wondering what I gotta do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't wanna be anything other than me
Can I have everyone's attention please?
If you're not like this and that, you're gonna have to leave
I came from the mountain, the crust of creation
My whole situation made from clay to stone and now I'm telling everybody
I don't wanna be anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking around rooms wondering what I gotta do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't wanna be anything other than me
I don't wanna be
I don't wanna be
No I don't wanna be anything
I don't wanna be uh uh uh anything other than me
I don't wanna be
I don't wanna be
I don't wanna be
I don't wanna be anything, anything other than me
I didn't set out to do a white-seamless thing, it just sort of evolved into it. I just happened to have a white-ish wall behind me, and the things that weren't white I covered with a white-ish blanket... then I blew the crap out of it with a light... made that blanket just disappear. I'm sure there are many things wrong with it according to the rules and laws of white-seamless, but hey, I gotta start somewhere.
One of the original goals of this shot was to try and get myself away from having darkness rule the majority of my photo. I seem to bring the non-subject areas down quite low, and I do it quite often, so I am trying to break out of that rut. Seeing as it turned into a white-seamless type of look, I've officially took it to the exact opposite extreme. Now I just need to back it down a notch or four.
This is a combination of flash in a softbox, flash in an umbrella, ambient light, and ambient window light.
Setup Info
- Camera about 10 feet from subject.
- SB600 in a 28-inch Westcott Apollo softbox camera left, slightly a higher than subject, angled slightly down at subject, and sort of feathered away from the subject.
- SB600 in a 43-inch Westcott reflective umbrella camera left, behind subject and angled across the wall behind subject. A flag was place between this light and the subject to prevent light from spilling forward onto the subject.
- Slower shutter to let ambient fill in some darker shadows.
- Window light was making it through the blinds camera-right and creating some highlighting on the camera-right side of subject's face.

Yo, I remember those days
When my name rang bells
In december for christmas I'd alway bang shells
The mentality of not really giving a fuck
And if I never worned and I never gave up
Reminising all the time that I'd hang through the night
The days of not caring if I was wrong or right
The days of being free, I was borned to race hell
And when I was scored, I'd always get bailed
See ya, things changed from those days in the past
Now life is more serious, no time to laugh
And the friends that I knew slowly drifted apart
Rap became a life now it's breaking my heart
It used to be the reason that I woke up in the morning
To see another day where my music kept be sold in
But now I don't know how to do this anymore
So goodbye to the past now I gotta close the door
I remember now
Those days we used to have our thoughts of god
I remember now
Now everything in our life is going wrong
Cause I remember now
And now were living a life where we don't get along
I remember now
We trying to pull through this before all lar
I remember those days when I first came out
Everybody was like you more dirty than the south
There wasn't even a time you caught me without the rapping
Everywhere I went there was always peoples clapping
Time would change, I've grown deep in the hood
Always making money I was up to no good
I remember that night when spear rammed through the block
And then the drive-by, when Shamile got shot
A few ones past, I lost track of the time
I touched my first gat in the years of 99
I remember that year, from the murder and tears
Another homie dropped, we pulled liquors and beers
It was at the time we stopped believing in the bible
The only thing that mattered was money and survival
Above things changed for the better or worse
One thing I won't forget is the past cause it hurts
I remember now
Those days we used to have our thoughts of god
I remember now
Now everything in our life is going wrong
Cause I remember now
And now were living a life where we don't get along
I remember now
We trying to pull through this before all lar
The older we get, the more that's got to be said
Then why we getting older but we fucked up in the head
Then we put in any efforts to look for better days
But when we struggling in life we think a different way
Sometimes it never pays, get mad to someones grave
We looking for a witness where the bloody body lays
Case closed that's how it is, man we miss being a team
The only time we'd share is when I see you in my dreams
I never thought our love for you would ever end this way
Everday we prayed for you until that special day
Then I won't see you again, memories will never fade
Don't play me for the ben must take a shoulden of me
You always looked out for me, stayed when nobody stayed
The gifts that you have got me, still waiting to my days
I wanna pay you back for all the times you had my back
But today we need to get, give up respect to that
Yea, I'd like to take this moment, to remember the forgotten
Rest in peace The Hung
Rest in peace (uninteligible word) Davie
Rest in peace too O-J
Rest in peace too Smokey
Rest in peace too Christine (uninteligible name)
Rest in peace too Chrissy
Damn man, Rest in peace too
Duke, Frank Ton, Jason, Gryme
I'm waiting
And everybody else
That was taken from us at an early age
You'll never be forgotten
I haven't uploaded a picture in a while...(mostly cause I haven't been shooting)...but I found this one in my "archives" and thought I would share it.
I decided that I wanted an autofocus prime lens...so I did a little research...and decided I wanted the Pentax FA 50mm 1.4. Well...that lens costs a bit more than I was willing to spend. So I decided to get the Pentax F 50mm 1.7. Quite frankly I don't care about the 1/2 stop difference...I just wanted a fairly fast prime lens with AF. I couldn't be happier with this lens. You've gotta ask yourself if a 1/2 stop of light is worth 100+ more dollars to you. If the answer is no...then this is the lens for you.
BONUS ENDORSEMENT (added 03-01-12): If you're a Pentax person...I'm sure you've heard that Pentax will be coming out with a 50mm 1.8 lens to compete with the "nifty fifties" that Canon and Nikon have offered for years. I'm going to tell you why you STILL want a used Pentax F 50mm 1.7 over the NEW 1.8 and the reason IS NOT the inconsequential slightly faster speed. The older F 50mm 1.7 will work on your "full frame" 35mm bodies. This new lens will only work on your cropped digital sensor. So even if the F 50mm 1.7 costs a bit more...pay it...cause you're going to be able to use it on anything you've got. I've used my F 50 1.7 on my ME and that thing isn't even AF. It's a beautiful lens that will serve you well in both mediums.
This picture was taken in damn near the same place as my Takumar 50mm 1.4 endoresment picture. The one difference is she's facing the window in this picture. In the Takumar shot she's got the window behind her. I DID stop the lens down to 2.8 however in this case. I'm impressed with how sharp this lens gets at such a big aperture. That's the trait of a great lens. (and fast lenses.)
If you're thinking about buying this lens...here's what I did:
- Check ebay everyday for listings (auctions and buy it nows)
- Decide how much you're willing to pay.
- Find a listing you want and put your MAX BID in close to the end of the auction. If you win...that's great...if you don't...oh well.
- Do NOT get into a bidding war. Stick to your number.
I bid on 8 lenses before I finally won one. I got this thing fairly cheap in terms of ebay prices. I paid a shade under 150...AND I got a Pentax SFX AF camera with it (I haven't shot with the camera yet cause it takes a battery I don't own). I think this picture is a great endorsement. If you just got into Pentax...I don't think you should hesitate to buy this lens if the price is right. You could get this lens cheaper than the Pentax DA 35mm 2.4...if you don't mind a bit tighter field of view.
This was taken with my one and only digital SLR...the Pentax k100d. I used the Pentax F 50mm 1.7 lens as discussed earlier. Aside from cropping this picture to the dimensions of 5x7...I did nothing to this picture. It's right out of the camera.
(1) I keep meaning to pick up my camera and take it with me.
I do. Really.
I'm just lucky I happen to have a decent camera phone that sends pix directly to flickr, otherwise what else would I do?
(2) There are things I keep wanting to do, like write out my "new" years resolutions. Thing is, I don't really believe in those new year thingies, because I've never been one to commit to anything, much less anyone, including myself. So resolution one is to make a commitment to myself.
I've decided on what I want to do when I "grow up" ~ going off on a tangent here. That song Geofrey the Giraffe (which I'd like back Sam, but I'm sure I'll never see again) sang for Toys R Us was written for me, just so you know. (Speaking of going off on multiple tangents; space cadet on a cosmic scale, yup, fingers pointing at me. You got it. Right here. That's ME!! ((I WAS IN THE TURKEY))
Can you tell I'm tired?
(3) What I've decided to do will hopefully never involve me working in an office EVER again, now if I could just get away from the cigarette smoke. . . I've also decided to eventually take myself back to school and pursue multiple degrees. This part will take more than one year to complete obviously, but if I can commit to myself, then possibly I can commit to completing my degree(s), right?
From what I've heard, the journey of 1000 miles begins with one step.
As much as I didn't want to move several states away from my *home*, everyday I find more and more reasons to be grateful that I did. I've learned so much in the years since I've moved here, how much I took for granted and what I didn't fully appreciate until it was no longer a convenience, who my real friends are, who to watch out for, how to not be no naive, what I really want in a partner, what I won't put up with, how to say yes AND no, how to prioritize.
(4) It's time to put my wings away for a little while and start growing some roots. Truthfuly this entire decade I've not really had *anything* that truly belonged to me that I didn't "just dump" because it was more convenient to get rid of than to try and repair. Sometimes when I have friends over and they comments on my eclectic tastes I have to think to myself that none of the bigger item was ever anything I chose, they were all chosen for me and I just Lynda-fied it with a few minor exceptions.
Sometime this year I will be upgrading to a true apartment, not just a living size shoebox loft. (5) Once that happens, my first purchase is going to be a kitchen table with hopefully more than 4 place settings, if not then four will do. I also plan to buy apples to apples or maybe even a nice scrabble set and start up my own version of Danny's Game's Night. After that, the purchase possibilities are endless.
It will, cross my fingers, be THE first apartment that I will have on my own, EVER. Every other apartment has ended up being co-habitated with a guy, or in rare instances: roomates. Never again thanks!
(6) I also want to have my car paid off in about 2 years time. So far I am on the right track for that to happen, I just have to keep it up.
(7) I'd like to start taking more vitamins for my health, drink more water, take better care of my skin and hair and eat what I want, but in the right portions. I should throw exercising in there too, along with massage and accupuncture while I'm at it.
For now that just about sums it all up. I just gotta start it all by taking my camera out more. . .
Peace out!
"I Want Crazy"
I’m booking myself a one-way flight
I gotta see the color in your eyes
And tellin’ myself I’m gonna be alright
Without you baby is a waste of time, ooh
Yeah, our first date, girl, the seasons change
That got washed away in a summer rain
You can’t undo a fall like this
‘Cause love don’t know what distance is
Yeah, I know it’s crazy
But I don’t want good and I don’t want good enough
I want can’t sleep, can’t breathe without your love
Front porch and one more kiss
It don’t make sense to anybody else
Who cares if you’re all I think about?
I’ve searched the world and I know now
It ain’t right and if you ain’t lost your mind
Yeah, I don’t want easy, I want crazy
Are you with me baby, let’s be crazy
Yeah, I wanna be scared, don’t wanna know why
I wanna feel good, don’t have to be right
The world makes all kinds of rules for love
I see you gotta let it do what it does
I don’t want just another hug and a kiss goodnight
Catchin’ up calls and a date sometimes
A love that revels and we still believe
We’re the kind of crazy that people wish that they could be
I know we’re crazy
But I don’t want good and I don’t want good enough
I want can’t sleep, can’t breathe without your love
Front porch and one more kiss
It don’t make sense to anybody else
Who cares if you’re all I think about?
I’ve searched the world and I know now
It ain’t right and if you ain’t lost your mind
Yeah, I don’t want easy, I want crazy
Are you with me baby, let’s be crazy
But I don’t want good and I don’t want good enough
I want can’t sleep, can’t breathe without your love
Front porch and one more kiss
It don’t make sense to anybody else
Who cares if you’re all I think about?
I’ve searched the world and I know now
It ain’t right and if you ain’t lost your mind
Yeah, I don’t want easy, I want crazy
Yeah, look at us baby
Tonight the midnight rules are breaking
There’s no such thing as wild enough
Or maybe we just think too much
Who needs to play it safe in love?
Let’s be crazy
Who cares if we’re crazy?
We gotta be crazy
I know that we’re crazy
So let’s be crazy

I'm not much of a flower picture taker.
But these little guys mean a lot to me.
They're right outside the door of my home.
And every year they pop up to tell me the good news.
Spring is here.
I gotta say they've got me feelin' really good today.
It's funny how a little thing like a flower can mean so much.
But they do.
We've made it through winter.
Spring has arrived.
I feel so good.
Good things are happening.
Really good things.
Viewminder's attracted a lot of attention lately from some pretty interesting places.
And it's not the feds, the police, Homeland Security, bill collectors, the IRS or anyone's attorney.
Some amazing opportunities have presented themselves.
I feel so fortunate and I feel truly blessed by whatever forces of the universe make the things happen that one truly desires will happen.
The Universal Forces have been good to me.
Between that and the feeling these little flowers have produced inside of me I feel pretty freakin' good.
I hope you're feelin' it today too.
I hope you're feelin' the love.
My heart is filled right now with love and light.
Nothing but love and light.
Great things are in the works.
I've learned something in the past couple of years...
when you truly put your heart and soul into something... when you do something out of pure love... you will do that thing not only in a way that is uniquely you...
but you will do it better than just about everybody else.
I've found the passion that's set my soul on fire.
And the product of that passion is going places.
You truly gotta love what you do.
I've been through some tough times and a whole buncha bullshit in the past few years...
but these flowers and a few recent events...
They've got me feeling like the luckiest guy on Earth.
I love feeling that way.
I hope you feel like the second luckiest person on Earth today too.
I mean... I'd like to maintain my postion at least for the rest of the day.
I'm sendin' you all the love and the light that's overflowin' from the core of my being right now.
Love and light.
Lots and lots of love and light.
Happy Spring to you my friend!
past few months have been pretty effed up and bizarre...so this is what I've been doing in the midst of it (as of late, at least...I only started doing this like 5 days ago...but with my lack of sleep it feels like it's been weeks.) school sucks. i dropped all but one of my classes and it STILL sucks. gotta love it.
so yea...I went out and bought some spray paint on a whim in the midst of a snow storm (wearing TOMS without socks, nonetheless...because that's a totally brilliant thing to do!), and started cutting out stencils.
I never thought about how long it would take to cut out the stencils...especially when you're an idiot like me and think "hey...I'm gonna cut out an image of Daniel Johns and put some Silverchair lyrics on there as well!"
...I think I spent 3 hours cutting out that particular stencil (not really shown here...it's the one closest to me in the book in the photo on the right- not that you can actually tell anything about it).
but it was totally worth it...it's probably my favorite one that I've done. Plus, it's Daniel Johns...so of course it will be gorgeous :)
The main one shown in the photo here is one I did of Desmond from LOST. The stencil design was something I found on Google, so I can't take credit for it, but I loved how the finished version came out. I got pretty lucky, because his hand is super close to falling off, but I've managed to avoid it thus far. And now I've pretty much gotten all I want to get out of it, so i'll be retiring it soon. (The actual stencil is the one that's on the right side of the right photo...the final painting is on the left of the right photo...because that TOTALLY wasn't confusing)
but yea...it's been interesting. and quite refreshing. it's nice to get away from digital crap, and just do stuff by hand once in a while.
______________
I bet my camera feels pretty sad that the only time I pull it out is to document the obsession that's taken it's place.
oh well...it deserves to feel miserable...it's brought me nothing but misery over the past year, so, you know...karma and stuff.

Looking back
I can see the things
I should'a done, could'a done
I see so much of my life I let go by
But when you're young
All you know how to do is wrong
Life can play tricks sometimes, you know
You think you got everything
When you got nothing at all
The only way you know where you're going
You gotta take a fall, you've got to lose it all
I've been through love
I've been through some pain i know
Changes in my life
Now I know what's meaningful
Looking back
I hear my family calling me
All my friends and loves I let go by
They wanted me to stay
But I was on a journey
There are so many faces
There are so many stories I know
But when I opened my eyes I had to realise
There's only one place to go,
This time I'm sure
I've been through love
I've been through some pain I know
Changes in my life
Now I know what's meaningful
Through all the things that I've been through
There's only one thing left to do
This time I'm gonna get it right (uh huh)
I've been through love
I, I've been through some pain I know
Changes in my life
Now I know what's meaningful
I've been through love
Pain I know
Changes in my life
Now I understand what's meaningful
So much love
Pain I know
I, I've had some changes in my life
Now I know what's meaningful
What's beautiful, it's so beautiful
I'm coming home
"Gotta do a HDR!"
It's NHVP's Cameraless Meet today so I knew I had to get today's photo done early as I have a feeling I won't want to be trying to take any decent photo's later this evening ;-)
I've been experimenting with various post-processing techniques over the past 21 day's but it occurred to me last night that I haven't done a HDR.
Now that's just not right!
After dropping Toni off at work [poor thing] and doing a job at Charlestown I decided to head to a local spot that I don't see featured very often by other Newcastle Photographers on Flickr [yes, I said Photographers ;-)]. It's at the end of Hickson Street, Merewether.
HDR's done outside turn out best when there's high cloud present so this morning was perfect. And of course the secret to a good HDR is to make it so it doesn't look like a HDR!
To camera right is Burwood Beach and Glenrock Lagoon. Just around the headland beyond the beach is Dudley Beach.
Answer to Questions
Why is the image at any angle?
That the way the camera was balancing on the fence railing.
Did you have to do many takes?
Three or four. My main concern was getting the horizon line going straight through my head which we all know is a big no-no!
This is my take on the 365 Days Project which seems to be all the rage at the moment.
To be honest, I'm pretty sure I couldn't be arsed doing this for a whole year so thought I'd see if I can last for at least 45 days!
Why 45?; I've just commenced 6 week's leave from work which works out to be 45 days.
My rules? ...
1. The photo must include me. [Doh!]
2. The photo must be taken by me.
3. It must be taken with my Canon EOS 40D with Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens attached.
4. The focal length must be set @ 10mm.
I may not be able to upload each day though ...
The entire "45 Days Project" set can be viewed here.

poem for my boyfriend, nathan jedlicka
boy you don't know what you've done to me.
you got me so twisted on your every word
every move
every blink
and i'm lovin it.
i said i'm hating it. every second of it.
i.
am.
in.
love with.............................you. and idk what to do.
guess i'll just keep loving you.
unconditionally, requisitionally, irresponsibly, you got a hold on me.
you got a hold on me and my heart when i start to just think of all the times that you've hurt me you've burnt me you've let me down baby i don't wanna
sound like i'm crazy
but baby
that's what it is
and if that's the way it is then that's the way it is
and if you can't see it, then be it, live it, hold on to the moment, you want it you own it,
but if you don't want me then fine, be that way,
but don't come back to me crawlin, bawlin, on your knees
beggin please...i miss you come back and i'll kiss you be with you
forever i promise
cause i fell for that one time
and i was left cryin, alone on the bathroom floor
lock the door, you're what i'm cryin for
i guess that's what's in store for me
unless you call me sayin i shoule come back
home and be with you
cause you said baby i miss you
come back and ill kiss you
and we'll be together forever, however i'll never give you a ring,
and i realise it's all a dream, i mean
they say dreams can come tue
however they never seem to
not for me, not now, not ever
so change my philosophy
make things the way they ought to be
and it ought to be only me and you
my boo, just let me be with you, just let me kiss you once,
twice, three times as nice
on the cheek, it's sweet
i greet you, it's nice to meet you, i still remember the day when i met you
you had me seein sparks in the sky, it was july,
you had me missin you after the first day
you had me wishin i was with you
wishin i could kiss you all day
maybe ever longer if that was okay
but you never did so i was left wishin
and hopin and prayin and waitin
i guess ill be waiting till the end of time
i will wait untill you are mine
baby you are so fine, i try to be kind
and patient and wait it out
but i really don't know what this is all about
i've never been this crazy bout anyone
i've never been this in love with just anyone
baby you are not just anyone
baby you are the only one,
hold me a little longer
my love gets even stronger and stronger
but i don't know if i can take this any longer
yeah i guess i can wait a little longer
i already siaid i can wait a life time
i'd wait a life time if you would be mine
i can't believe i've already waited this long
i can't believe i didn't get you with this song
but just remember this clock is ticking
all of this time could have been spent licking
your neck, your body, or lordy don't get me started
you are lookin so fine i must say, devine
let me kiss you lips just this one time
i wont tell anyone if you don't
i wont even ask for it again, if you don't
or we can be happily ever after
sharing moments filled with laughter
i don't really know what you are after
if i'm not the one for you then who is
if all my love doesn't satisfy you then what does
when i ask you if you love me i don't get a straight answer
why can't you just tell me and i'll try to understand
you know if you leave me my world will not end
that is a lie, you know it would be the end
of us, not that there ever really was an us
but i like to think there was a you and i, me and you,
boy i just wish i knew what you were thinking
i wish i had a sip of what you're drinking
i've been thinking, we make a cute couple
you and i, me and you
i mean look at us, we do
yeah we do look pretty fine together
out here in the pretty southern weather
but when i ask you if you want me you never answer
always playin round with your words like this, that, the other
i hate to say it but i love you more than my own mother
you know i'm crazy for you baby
but the way you been actin lately
i'm not so sure if you want to date me
i'm not even sure you can relate with me
but we always get along
that's why i'm writing you this song
it's a love song,
say it like you mean it, like a poem or a rap
now i'm not sayin you ever treated me like crap
but remember i am a princess
you held me hand once, i got a witness
i just don't understand what i'm doing wrong
i keep my head up and my emotions strong
and i'm sorry if i made this song too long
but baby it's complicated
it cannot be understated
undervalued, or underapreciated
cause it goes like this
girl meets boy, girl falls in love
boy meets girl, doesn't know what to think of
her love for him, nobody has ever felt this way for him before
so he hides his emotions,
though he loves her lotions, and potions
love potions that she uses
potions that she abuses and loses his mind
right when he think he's got it all figured out
right when she thinks she got him all figured out
she did something crazy
something that made her feel less of a lady
she had sex with another dude and had a baby
she said, i'm sorry but rejection every day and every night
it get's old and it just ain't right
he said it's alright, and she started to cry
how could be so calm and sly
why is he such a perfect guy
a perfect gentleman like he went to school for it
like a got a bachlors, a masters, and a doctorit
so she cried every night for nine months alone
and when the time came for the baby to come
she called the boy who said he would be there for her
he said he would be there as a friend,
he said he would be there til the end
but when she called him he didn't answer
she rang the door bell twice but got no answer
and as she walked away she heard his voice
he said come here girl, i've got no choice,
this baby gotta have a baby daddy he said
so you'll be with me and my baby for a while
he said i'll be with you and my baby for a while
forever, and ever, however you will never get a ring
and then she realised it was all a dream
exept for the baby, the she really had, alone
occasionally he would answer his phone
but they didn't really talk for very long
he said can i write you a song, it goes like this
hey you, i see you, lookin at me that way
hey girl i want you, but not the same way
as you want me, baby, trust me
it's all for the best, i insist, you'll see
how happy you and i can be, baby
and then he hung up the phone
she called him, no answer
remember all this time the clock it ticking
tick tock, time goes so slow
when you love someone oh you know
the rest
so finish your song little boy
sing it to me real nice choir boy
so he sang
girl i love you
boy i love you too
girl i'm gonna miss you
and i really wish i could kiss you
please do
but i can't
why not
just trust me
try not to think too much of me
you crazy? i love you, i think about you all the time
i think about so much when i'm cryin
i think you're beautiful
you're everything i want, i need, i want you
you're everything i need, i want, i need you
and i'd love to stay and chat for a while
but i think i'm gone take a break for a while
but don't worry i'll be thinking of you
i only hope you'll think of me too
just got one more thing i gotta do
i gotta say, once more, i love you
i do.
This is how resistors typically come, if you aren't familiar with them. That kind of beige tape stuff holding 100 resistors to two strips of paper.
So last night I went to tear off a couple of resistors...I don't recall the value or I'd show you the offending item...and the tape was some brick red plastic-y stuff instead of the usual beige construction tape or whatever.
It was hard to tear than this stuff and somehow I pulled a muscle between my right thumb and index finger doing it.
This is the kind of thing that would never have been an issue when I was 19. I mean, I've literally fallen out of a moving vehicle and got up like, "Dude, that was messed-up! We gotta get back on the road or we're gonna miss the show!"
Now I'm all, "Tore that plastic tape and now I'll never be able to use this thumb again!" They needed some classes when I was a kid about what to expect as your body stops being as resilient.
Yes! A picture taken with my mom's iPhone 4! I still can't decide if I want one or not.. I feel as though I now want a puppy!
One day I had a dream that I had a great pyrenese! I have no idea if I'm spelling that right! But I remember it was the sweetest thing ever! And now I actually saw one and I want one.. But my parents refuse to have a big dog, haha but maybe once I get my own house I could have one! Haha, :)
So today was my parents anniversary! We ate a Red Lobster (my dad's favorite) and we walked around a bit in a mall nearby!
I was trying on clothes and I realized I have once again gone up a pant size, and I was so upset. I gotta do something about this.. Maybe I'll start running or something in the mornings? We'll have to see! :(
Today I have trumpet lessons! Which I am actually very excited about because I've been practicing a lot and I think I'll do pretty well!
Oh my summer days are numbered, band camp starts in a little over a week.. I'm excited to be productive, but I'm not excited for the heat!
Well. That's all for now!
Okay don't kill me, just erase if this is too much. But if you can play...you should! I laughed until I cried at this game!!!!! Some of the "answers" are sooo funny!

It's high time I got back in the car and finished my license - for those not familiar, we have a graduated licensing system in Ontario. The written test gets you a G1 (learner's permit-type thing: only allowed to drive with someone else).
Then 8-12 months later (less if you've taken a driving course), you take a road test and get a G2 - which is what I have. You can drive pretty much any time on your own, but no alcohol. Another year later you take another road test, this time longer and on the highway, and you get a full G license.
Usually you have 5 years to complete the whole process, but I kind of got in under a loophole. So I got my G1 when I was 17, but now I'm nearly 25 without a full license (I got to renew my G2 without taking yet another road test). But I've got to finish it up! If I don't finish now I never will, because I'll move downtown and won't have a car or anything! So I need to get back into driving (which is hard since I don't have a lot of places to drive to, really) and then take some lessons and do the test, hopefully this summer.
Also, isn't it funny how new cars don't even have keys?
(So tonight I picked up my little sister from a movie, a 5-minute drive that I've done a bunch of times. Gotta start somewhere right? I do like the corolla that my dad bought my grandmother way better than driving a Windstar! I'll have to borrow the car from my grandma for practicing - how lame is that?)
Update:
Have y'all missed me!? It's only been a few days but i've missed y'all so much! My modem broke. If it's not one thing it's another, and they truly mean that. I finally get the computer fixed, the camera fixed, and then modem breaks!?!? Sigh. It is the story of my life. They want $80 for a new modem. Like i've got that in my pocket, lol. You know, once upon a time, i did have that, and then tragedy struck as it so often does, and now i am doing all i can...
My grandmother is not doing well. My poor mother is scared. I am so sad for her. We have made the best decision for her, but of course she will not agree. It will be traumatic, and heart breaking, but it is still the right thing to do. Keep this sweet old lady in your thoughts if you have a moment. Her name is Rita.
There is not too much of this that i can put into print, but let's just say i went to a party and then cried in my car for 20 minutes after b/c the girls were so mean to me. There is no reason for this, as i am a nice person and i am funny and i do not make fun of people or talk about them secretly. (Well, until now.) And i recycle! They were so mean that when i told my friend April what they did, she started crying for me. It was an awful day, and i did not even have my flickr friends to console me.
Let's see, i'd like to end with a good note, so we'll just talk about the picture. Isn't he cute? Can't you just see how much he wants to be held? Most cats do not care to be picked up. Most people don't know how to properly hold a cat anyway. Or you get cats like Charlie who are too British to be held (gotta love the Brits!). But his one like to snuggle, he's my Snuggie-Buddy. And here he is, asking for love, it's just that easy.
So leave me a comment and i'll feel the love too, and we'll just tell those girls there is no room for bullies here. (My mother says they are just jealous.)
Or, alternately: "I found a stick!"
Yep, just when stir craziness and that urge to splurge was creeping up on me, I walk into a favorite antique shop of mine and find this of all things: a first bustle-period pagoda parasol frame. I nabbed it immediately, partly because I've never seen a pagoda frame that's also a first bustle-period example. Okay - that's not true. I've seen ONE other pagoda of the same age, but I had never imagined they were still made at that time.
Okay - let me clear something up for people who have no idea what I'm talking about when I say "first bustle-period."
During the nineteenth century there were two periods when the bustle was popular - the bustle first appeared right as the crinoline was losing popularity: the late-late 1860s. The bustle was worn into the 1870s until about mid-decade, when the slim pencil look became fashionable. This continued into the 1880s until the mid-part of the decade, when women felt their backsides growing once again. Unlike the soft, puffy bustle of the 1870s, the 1880s tournure, as it was called, jutted straight out of the back and created a harsh, admittedly odd-looking silhouette. When the British Ambassador visited Constantinople in the mid 1880s, a native, struck by the extreme silhouette that the 1880s tournure created, asked the Ambassador's wife "Are all ladies in your country deformed like you?"
So those are the two different bustle periods. This example comes from the first, when parasols reached their most miniscule sizes. This example, which is wood, painted to look like ivory, is twenty-three and a half inches long. The shade only measures about sixteen inches across when opened. It was just the frame when I bought it, but it still shows bits of what was brown silk on the metal ribs. I'll try and save up to get this thing restored one day. I think it would look quite nice with a brown silk cover, beaded (as many examples of this period were) with ivory or bone beads - for contrast and for the heck of it. Now I've just gotta' find the money and the materials to do it. Why get it restored? Because I'm a historic preservation dork.
UP-GRADING AND ADVANCING BACKWARDS FAST!!!!!!!!
I cant do !!!...........cant cant cant cant DO IT!!!!!
So what's all this about then!!!!????!!!!..........
”THIS” is about upgrading technology ….and getting something better only to be frustrated by ending up with something worse than you were getting before you chose to upgrade and get something better in the first place!!!!!!!! !GRRRRR....( well at least during the initial period of getting to grips with how the “BETTER “ thingy works !!!)
for those new to maxxxi's photostream the work you see here is all created from photo's taken with a mobile phone(3.1mega pix) samsung d900i (ooh!!!!!!!!!!...my poor little d900iiiiiiii maxxxi still LOVES YOUxxxxxxxxxxxxx) then messed with on my laptop in order to create what you see here..........WELLLLLLLLL!!!!.......I got a bit of what you might call a “camera” now!!!!!
nothing fancy!!...about £100's worth I guess......point and press samsung (12 mega pix)
NOW I'M A WOMAN OF THE WORLD.....AND I KNOW SIZE ISN'T EVERYTHING!!!! (yer right!!!.....LOL) but it must count for something!!....i gotta be able to better with 12 rather than 3 mega pix surely !?!?!?!?.....well right now the answer is a frustrating ...NO I CAN'T!!
****AND YES I'VE READ THE INSTRUCTION.......and..... NO I DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND THEM!!!!****** all the extra settings !!...cant focus on the wood for the trees!!!!
….oh yes and thats another thing!!..while we're on the subject of “trees”!!!....if you wish to save trees...THEN QUIT WITH THE JUNKMAIL already why dont ya!!.......and instead use the trees to make ….little booklets!!!......”LITTLE INSTRUCTION BOOKLETS”..no less!!! The sort that I can stick in my pocket and take with me when i'm out and about practising to take pictures with my new camera!!!.....(are you listening SAMSUNG !!!!!!!) I dont want to have to print them off a “DISC” i'll only lose the bit of paper …..I WANT A LITTLE BOOKLET ….WITH A PICTURE OF MY CAMERA ON THE FRONT!! so its easy to recognise amongst all my other crap!!....oh yes and I want it in “ENGLISH” only please!!!......not every other language under the sun!!..if you can design and print the outside packaging according to distribution then why cant you do the same with the instructions.....and just include an option to download in a different language if required!!.....(its a fuk'in pain in the arse!....if you suffer from any dyslexia You'd be surprised how far into a set of “Double Dutch instructions a person can get!!...before realising that....they're not being “blonde”!!!.....they're just being foreign!!....LOL)
….
anyway nough of maxxxi BLA BLA…..moaning!!
I took this picture with my new camera !!!.....its the best one out of about fifty that I tried to take of dragonflys (46 of which I deleted almost straight away were TOTALLY CRAP!!)....even this one i've had to photoshop the hell out of it to get it to look halfway decent!!!
I know it'll be ok in the end once I get the hang of it!!!..... cos its happened every time i've upgraded to a better phone camera........ even before digital... it happened each time I upgraded my poleroid cameras.......AND ….I also know time will come when I look back at the pictures I took with my phone and think “IF ONLY I'D HAD MY CAMERA WHEN I TOOK THOSE HOW MUCH BETTER THEY WOULD BE!!!”
*****but for now I'm frustrated as I'm going through that “GETTING THE HANG OF NEW PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT”...time*****
its easy to see why i'm frustrated with the picture above when you realise this was one I took with my mobilephone

BOY:
I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the kids at school
They were wishing they were me that night
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!
Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
GIRL:
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
TOGETHER:
Ain't no doubt about it
Baby got to go and shout it
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
BOY:
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Baby doncha hear my heart
You got it drowning out the radio
I've been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun
And I gotta let you know
No you're never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes I got a big surprise
It'll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor run
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!
TOGETHER:
Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night 2x
Paradise by the dashboard light
You got to do what you can
And let Mother Nature do the rest
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely-
We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go all the way
tonight's tonight...
We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go all the way
tonight's tonight...

OK, here we go, we got a real pressure cooker going here,
Two down, nobody on, no score, bottom of the ninth,
There's the windup, and there it is, a line shot up the middle,
Look at him go. This boy can really fly! He's rounding first and really
turning it on now, he's not letting up at all, he's gonna try for
second; the ball is bobbled out in center, and here comes the
throw, and what a throw! He's gonna slide in head first, here he
comes, he's out! No, wait, safe-safe at second base, this kid
really makes things happen out there. Batter steps up to the
plate, here's the pitch-he's going, and what a jump he's got,
he's trying for third, here's the throw, it's in the dirt-safe at
third! Holy cow, stolen base! He's taking a pretty big lead out
there, almost daring him to try and pick him off. The pitcher
glances over, winds up, and it's bunted, bunted down the third
base line, the suicide squeeze is on! Here he comes, squeeze
play, it's gonna be close, holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!
GIRL:
Stop right there!
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away, will you make me your wife?
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?
Do you need me!?
Will you never leave me!?
Will you make me happy for the rest of my life!?
Will you take me away , will you make me your wife!?
I gotta know right now
Before we go any further
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?
BOY:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
I'll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it

BOY:

GIRL:
Will you love me forever?!?!?!
BOY:
I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!
TOGETHER:
So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
BOY:But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my time with you!!
TOGETHER:
BOY:
It was long ago and it was far away
And it was so much better than it is today
GIRL:
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
And we were glowing like

I got a baby's clean conscience
I walk around with my head off
And in the state of the big sky
The ground holds on to my grandpa's
I'm always walking back one pace
I'm walking back, head off
And in the state of the loud feet
The dirt stores much in my familiy
I'm always walking that one way
That dirt stores much in my family
I blew off my laundry
And my clothes hold on to the dirt, see
And in the state of the loud feet
I've got a baby's clean conscience
I walk around with my shoes off
And the ground holds on to my bad walk
Hey, look around you, everything's helter-skelter
Listen up, I warn you, run for cover, run
Bang, it happened; time's up, Armageddon
Fire, meltdown, the sky is crumbling in
Black curtains, never-ending
Black curtains
Escape, you're joking, can't find no place to run
Hair is burning, my flesh is bubbling up
Blood is boiling, taste copper on my tongue
Fate is coming, welcome it with a smile
Black curtains, never-ending
Black curtains fall
Black curtains, never-ending
Black curtains
"Something's under my skin
Something's very strange, playing with my mind, tempting me to do you in"
Am I dreaming? My heart pounds my chest
Held for ransom in a spider's web
Suffocating, no one hears my calls
Never-ending, 'til the black curtain falls
Snakes surround me, offering their death kiss to me
Down, I'm drowning; how long? I hold my breath
Dogs are chasing, my legs are paralysed
Pray, don't find me, my life is fading fast
Black curtains, never-ending
Black curtains fall
Black curtains, never-ending
Black curtains
You were right I"m hanging round because
Slight of hand won't separate us from them
You were right I'm underground because
Slight of hand won't separate your body from the dirt you're standing on today
You're the good things yeah that's you
You're the icing on the cake on the table at my wake
You're the extra ton of cash on my sinking life raft
You're the loud sound of fun when I'm trying to sleep
You're the flowers in my house when my allergies come out
You're the good things
And help's not short when you're digging your grave
I'll help you dig it
So you're digging your grave now
You're speaking my language I'll help you dig it
So you went to make a call well they musta hung up
'Cause I see you're talking to him right there
Oh, I knew I was a little messed up
But I guess it's much worse than I feared
'Cause I'm still here
I'm still here
I am still here
Your friends are all rollin' their eyes and you're laughing
Well yeah I know what's what
I love good jokes just like anybody
But I don't like being the butt
'Cause I'm right here
I'm still here
I am still right here
Your eyes are darting around
And you're looking right past me for something else that's near
Well you must have powdered your nose just a little too much
'Cause I'm still here
I know that you told me you were a little bit drunk
But I think it's much worse than you feared
Well you're making me feel like a dog catcher
But hell, you invited me here!
Why am I here?
Why am I here?
Why am I here?
This circus is falling down on its knees
The big top is crumbling down
It's raining in Baltimore, fifteen miles east
Where you should be, no one's around
I need a phone call
I need a raincoat
I need a big love
I need a phone call
These train conversations are passing me by
And I don't have nothing to say
You get what you pay for
But I just had no intention of living this way
I need a phone call
I need a plane ride
I need a sunburn
I need a raincoat
And I get no answers
And I don't get no change
It's raining in Baltimore, baby
But everything else is the same
There's things I remember and things I forget
I miss you, I guess that I should
Three thousand five hundred miles away
But what would you change if you could?
I need a phone call
Maybe I should buy a new car
I can always hear a freight train
Baby, if I listen real hard
And I wish, I wish it was a small world
'Cause I'm lonely for the big towns
I'd like to hear a little guitar
I guess it's time to put the top down
I need a phone call
I need a raincoat
I really need a raincoat
I really, really need a raincoat
I really, really, really need a raincoat
I really need a raincoat

Took a bus straight to Baltimore, on the way he took a nap
Dropped off a note that said, "I'm giving this note back"
PS, there's a lot going on underneath
There's roots, there's pipes and there's drainage leaks
You're on, you're wrong
Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio
Truly sorry, I see clearly
Calmly crashing, I pace faster than anyone
Hinges rusting, they swing louder than anything
Truly lonely, this place is flatter than it seems
I'm upset and I leave the door open wide
Our hearts are used up, cracked and dry
Pulled the scabs off of regrets
We haven't learned to read our conscience yet
Truly sorry, I see clearly
Hardly hoping, I spend it all on game machines
Calmly crashing, I pace and I figure it out again
One hand clapping, awake but napping
Rows of lights to illuminate lines
Why don't they turn them off and let us see night?
Drove crazed, grooming my lies
You can't look in on one way eyes
Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio
Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio
Ohio, Ohio
Alice pressed against the wall
So she can see the door
In case the laughing strangers crawl and
Crush the petals on the floor
Alice in her party dress
She thanks you kindly
So serene
She needs you like she needs her tranqs
To tell her that the world is clean
To promise her a definition
Tell her where the rain will fall
Tell her where the sun shines bright
And tell her she can have it all
Today
Pass the crystal spread the Tarot
In illusion comfort lies
The safest way the straight and narrow
No confusion no surprise
Alice in her party dressed to kill
She the thanks you turns away
She needs you like she needs her pills
To tell her that the world's okay
To promise her a definition
Tell her where the rain will fall
Tell her where the sun shines bright
And tell her she can have it all
Today
Today

Don't give it away
The bodies on the naked on the low damp ground
In the violet hour to the violent sound
And the darkness the blinding the eyes that shine
And the voices singing line on line

Animal flow from the animal glands
In the violet hour to the violent sound
Going round and around and around and around and around
I feel the bite I feel the beat I see the dancing feet
I feel the light I feel the heat I see the new elite
I see the final floorshow I see the western dream
I see the faces glow and I see the bodies steam
See them shimmy see them go
See their painted faces glow
Slow slow quick quick slow
See those pagans go go go go go
Why, this is the floorshow the last ideal
It's populist got mass appeal
The old religion redefined
For the facile futile totally blind
For the totally blind
Mundane by day inane at night
Pagan playing in the flashing light
In the violet hour to the violent sound
Going round and around and around and around and around
The bodies and the naked on the low damp ground
In the violet hour to the violet sound
And the darkness the blinding the eyes that shine
And the voices singing line on line
See them shimmy see them go
See their painted faces glow
Slow slow quick quick slow
See those pagans go go go go go
Man, what in the world is happening down here in the hall?
I wouldn't have a clue, let's go check this thing out
Woo!
What is happening here?
Something's going on that's not quite clear
Somebody turn on the lights
We're gonna have a party, it's starting tonight
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
The room is hot and that's good
Some of my friends came by from the neighborhood
The people startin' a-climb the walls
Ooh, it looks like everybody is having a ball
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, oh what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Come on!
Woo!
Alright
Everybody starts to lose control when the music is right
If you see somebody hangin' around don't get up-tight
The only thing we wanna do tonight
Is go 'round and 'round and turn upside down
Come on let's get down!
(Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)
So come on, let's get loose
Don't hold back 'cause ain't no use
Hard to keep your feet on the ground
'Cause when we like to party we only wanna get down
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling, baby
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Say what?
Can't stop now
Just getting started
Everybody clap your hands
Come on
Everybody let's dance
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Oh, what a feeling
When we're dancing on the ceiling
Baby, baby
Oh, we gonna dance all night

I vacuumed out my head
I know you're feeling bad you
Fucking bitch you cunthole bitch

She really jacked my head
She went and done it
Handsome Gretel
My name is Gretel yeah

And look smack at us
And symbolize everything that
Is disgust and mistrust
Licorice eyes

You're standing by the gray ice water
Out in the wind, above the ground, out in the weather
You had yourself a crazy lover
Becoming froze, tryin' hard to forget her
You got a job up in Alaska
It's easy to save what the cannery pays
'Cause there ain't nowhere to spend it
You're standing by the gray ice water
Out in the wind, above the ground, out in the weather
You had yourself a crazy lover
Becoming froze, tryin' hard to forget her
You took the path of least resistance
On the phone cutting out talking
Short to long distance
At home on a boat, at home it's a fish trap
At home on a boat, it's a fish trap
At home on a boat, it's a fish trap

So fuck your Bible and your Babel
Make a psalm into my dirty bomb
So dance, motherfucker, dance
Racing through red lights
I'm unstable, I'm not a show horse
I can't be bridled, of course
I'm outstanding, I'm unregretted
I got tattooed in reverse
Whoa, in reverse
You can't play this game and host all the pieces
Hold your breath and just wait
Someone else will pay for your sins
Not convinced by the cast to the same
My goddamned puppeteers
Whoa!
Whoa!
I'm unstable, I'm not a show horse
I can't be bridled, of course
I'm outstanding, unregretted
I got tattooed in reverse
Whoa, got tattooed in reverse
Whoa, in reverse
Your confession means nothing
So fuck your attrition
There ain't nothing in my hourglass
Just sands from the Dead Sea
And I'm aiming my weapon
And I'm aiming my weapon
Your confession means nothing
So fuck your attrition
There ain't nothing in my hourglass
Just sands from the Dead Sea
And I'm aiming my weapon
fuck your Bible and your Babel
Make a psalm into my dirty bomb
So dance, motherfucker, dance
Racing through red lights
So fuck your Bible and your Babel

"Wow!" said the broken Californian down
On the beach that used to be by the beach
Town hasn't moved but's getting closer, losing ground
Making better views and close relaxing sounds
Ground sure don't like the way it's treated so now
It's moving back to the sea
Plan to hitch a ride with the river
Cause deep down plumbing life is too cramped for me
I got wood legs and bow legs and no legs at all
Goddamn! Would you accept a collect call?
Oh no, I don't understand
I got sore eyes and poor eyes and no eyes at all
Goddamn! Would you like to take a fall?
No I don't like this plan
It was a staple of brass tacks and waxed backs
A memo left on the forehead of God
Sent sealed and signed by the saints who sang this song:
"We're going union like they say
We'll buy the congregation
Then one day, you'll find us sitting
In your chairs with big ideas of stocks and shares"
Some people get by
with a little understanding
Some people get by with a whole lot more
I don't know, why you gotta be so undemanding
One thing I know, I want more, I want more
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
D'you get scared to feel so much?
To let somebody touch you?
So hot, so cold, so far so out of control
Hard to come by, and harder to hold
Some people get by with a little understanding
Some people get by with a whole lot more
I don't know, why you gotta be so undemanding
I want more
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
There are parts of me that don't get nervous
Not the parts that shake
You won't get what you deserve
You are what you take
Learning to cry for fun and profit
I'm not done yet
Counterfeit dollars or the English Zloty
Anything I can get
Some people get by with a little understanding
Some people get by with a whole lot more
I don't know, why you gotta be so undemanding
One thing I know, I want more
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
And I need all the love I can get
And I need all the love that I can't get to
Can't get to
And I need all the love
That you can guess?

We have one chance.
One chance to get everything right.
We have one chance, one chance.
And if we're lucky we might.
My friends, my habits, my family,
They mean so much to me.
I just don't think that it's right.
I've seen so many ships sail in,
Just to head back out again and go off sinking.
I'm just a box in a cage. I'm just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box in a cage.
Didn't mean to laugh, didn't know I had.
Didn't know the better part of what you said
'cause in your head you are not home.
Didn't get the joke. Didn't mean to poke another,
Just to save myself
From some something something or another one.
Well walk home.
I'm just a box in a cage. I'm just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box in a cage.
I'm just a box, just a box in a cage.

We were together since we were five
She was so pretty
Emma was a star in everyone's eyes
And when she said she'd be a movie queen
Nobody laughed
With her face like an angel
She could be anything
Emmaline
Emma
Emmaline
I'm gonna write your name high on the silver screen
Emmaline
Emma
Emmaline
I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen
At seventeen
We were wed
And I worked hard to earn our daily bread
And every day
Emma would go out searching for that play
That never, ever came her way
And sometimes she come home and she'd be so depressed
I'd hear her crying in the back room and be so distressed
And I'd remember back when she was five
To the words that used to make Emmaline come alive
It was...
Emmaline
Emma
Emmaline
I'm gonna write your name high on the silver screen
Emmaline
Emma
Emmaline
I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen
It was a cold and dark December night
When I opened up the bedroom door
To find her lying
Cold and still upon the bed
A love letter lying on the bedroom floor
IT read,
'Darling I love you
But I just can't keep living on dreams no more
I've tried so hard not to leave you alone
But I just can't keep trying no more'
Emmaline
Emma
Emmaline
I'm gonna write your name high on the silver screen
Emmaline
Emma
Emmaline
I'm gonna make you the biggest star this world has ever seen
Tease your neck, kiss your spitless mouth
If you have another taste.
Carry my body, drive my rider home
If you take another bad bet.
Mumbled had a rumble and I stumbled down the stairs
Smellin' just like lumber but my baby don't care
We went uptown, downtown, everywhere between
There was so much spilled milk we could've had a factory.
Silver poor house, plastic lungs, my bones,
If you take another look.
Gills of wine, slow on five,
I know when you're railing on another, baby.
Sweet basted teenagers lookin' all around.
I see your babies crawlin' all over the ground
They go 'goo-goo, gaa-gaa', what the hell's that mean.
Not even I know where I am, so don't go look for me.
Things go dark, light, dark, light, day after day.
The flies weren't invited but they wouldn't go away.
The blanks were filled out filled in but never complete
There were so many dreams that there was no time to sleep.
Not a point to make, dodged a bullet, dredged the lake,
I had one bite of wedding cake and I about threw up.
I see bridesmaids, bridesmaids hunting for a man
One more drink and I think I'll marry him.
Jolene Jolene Jolene Jolene
I'm begging you please don't take my man
Jolene Jolene Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can
CHORUS
Your beauty is beyond compare with flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like a breath of spring your voice is soft as summer rain
And I cannot compete with you Jolene
He talk about you in his sleep
There's nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he calls your name Jolene
And I can easily understand
How you can easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me Jolene
CHORUS
Well you could have your choice of man
But I could never love again
He's the only man for me jolene
I have to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
Whatever you decide to do
Jolene

Oh, we gonna dance all night
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
From the mountains of faith
To the river so deep
I must be looking for something
Something sacred I lost
But the river is wide
And it's too hard to cross
Even though I know the river is wide
I walk down every evening and I stand on the shore
I try to cross to the opposite side
So I can finally find what I've been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the valley of fear
To a river so deep
I've been searching for something
Taken out of my soul
Something I'd never lose
Something somebody stole
I don't know why I go walking at night
But now I'm tired and I don't want to walk anymore
I hope it doesn't take the rest of my life
Until I find what it is I've been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the jungle of doubt
To the river so deep
I know I'm searching for something
Something so undefined
That it can only be seen
By the eyes of the blind
In the middle of the night
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I'm not sure about a life after this
God knows I've never been a spiritual man
Baptized by the fire, I wade into the river
That is running to the promised land
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the
I go walkin' in the, in the middle of the

An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
There's no end to the ways
That we can play and play and play
So please come over
There's an end to the day
And it ends much differently this time, come over
There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
Well, my father doesn't ring the bell no more
It's alright, would you please come over?
Sure, you've heard that him and mom are separated
And he's gone, he won't be around
Oh, an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
I promise I won't tell any other kids that you did
But please, please come over
An ice cream party at my house
We can play until we're sacked out
Please come over
There's an ice cream party in my house
An ice cream party in my house
Please come over
Oh, there's an ice cream party in my house (pretty, pretty please)
An ice cream party in my house (pretty, pretty please)
Please come over (please come over)
Oh, an ice cream party in my house (pretty, pretty please)
An ice cream party in my house (pretty, pretty please)
Please come over (please come over)

Gold dust woman,
Take your silver spoon
And dig your grave
One last challenge
Pick your path and I'll pray
Wake up in the morning
See your sunlight burning to go down
Lousy lovers pick their graves
But they never cry out loud
Did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love
Is it over now do you know how
Pick up the pieces and go home
Gold dust Woman,
Follow those who pale
In your shadow
Rulers make bad lovers
You better put your kingdom up for sale
Did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love
Is it over now -- do you know how
Pickup the pieces and go home
My dirty dreams are filled with ghosts
Drowning in a shallow puddle
My muck and mud is thicker than the quickest of my demons
Fast and ghastly
Fast and ghastly
Fast and ghastly
And unforgiving
Someone's gonna die soon
Don't get in the way
You're not the hero
You're not the hero
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
First class on the astral plane
Just 'cause you're famous doesn't mean you're worth anything
In this world or the next one or the one before
'Cause I'm not forgiving
Not forgiving (said I'm not forgiving)
Not forgiving (said I'm not forgiving)
I'm fast and ghastly (fast and ghastly)
Someone's gonna die soon
Don't get in the way
You're not the hero
Not the hero
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
Black is real, you can't hide
Hearts are the darkest
When you see without the sun
Black is real, you can't hide
Hearts are the darkest
When you see without the sun
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead
Black is real, you can't hide
Hearts are the darkest
When you see without the sun
Black is real, you can't hide
Hearts are the darkest
When you see without the sun
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead longer than you're alive
You're dead
6 AM, Christmas morning
No shadows, no reflections here
Lying cheek to cheek, in your cold embrace
So soft and so tragic, as a slaughterhouse
You press the knife against your heart
And say that, "I love you so much, you must kill me now"
"I love you so much, you must kill me, now"
If I was your vampire, certain as the moon
Instead of killing time
We'll have each other until the sun
If I was your vampire, death waits for no one
Hold my hands across your face
Because I think our time has come
Digging your smile apart with my spade tongue
And the hole is where the heart is
We built this tomb together, I won't fill it alone
Beyond the pale
Everything's black, no turning back
If I was your vampire, certain as the moon
Instead of killing time
We'll have each other until the sun
If I was your vampire, death waits for no one
Hold my hands across your face
Because I think our time has come
Blood-stained sheets
In the shape of your heart
This is where it starts
Blood-stained sheets
In the shape of your heart
This is where it starts, this is where it will end
Here comes the moon again
6:19 and I know I'm ready
Drive me off the mountain
You'll burn and I'll eat your ashes
Impossible wheels seducing our corpse
If I was your vampire, certain as the moon
Instead of killing time
We'll have each other until the sun
If I was your vampire, death waits for no one
Hold my hands across your face
Because I think our time has come
Beyond the pale
Everything's black, no turning back
Beyond the pale
Everything's black, no turning back
This is where it starts, this is where it will end
Here comes the moon again
Here comes the moon again
This is where it starts, this is where it will end
Here comes the moon again
Here comes the moon again
Here comes the moon again
Here comes the moon again

Come closer and see
See into the trees
Find the girl
While you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Into the trees
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone
The girl was never there
It's always the same
I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again and again...
6:30 this morning.
I can't hear ya.
I woke at 6:30 this morning with a headache.
Oh
I wonder to take 'em or not
I wouldn't take 'em.
I don't know, the headache is heavier than anything else.
It's the first time that you took 'em?
Second.
Yeah
I had a little bit of a headache this morning.
I wouldn't take 'em, mom.
I won't take 'em now, 'cause I have a toothache that hurts too a
Little bit. I've taken everything I got, been thinkin'
All that blood pressure medicine you take and stuff too. You
Shouldn't take those things. You're better off not to sleep then to take the
?
Oh, my god! No wonder you got a headache! Your pressure's probably
Sky high! Why don'tYou gotta take that every day!
I try though
Are you crazy?
It's been 3 days
That's probably why you have a headache nowDid you take it
Today?
I did this morning, yeah.
That's probably why you have a headache, 'cause your pressure's up.
Yeah.
I don't know how you can forget to take it. And when that's the
Only pill you take
I'm sorry, I have so many pills you'd be surprised.
Well, the blood pressure pill is the most important one.
Yeah, I know
There ain't no other one as important as that one.
I got one more and then I gotta get to the store. I got two
Refills on it.
You only got one pill?!
I only take one a day
Well, yeah, but you shouldn't let 'em get that low
I guess not, but I can take one in the morning and then go get
Some more
They're expensive! If you have to pay for 'em Procardia?
No, the other one.
Which ones?
I gotta pay for procardia.
Were you taking that every day?
Yeah.
Well, that's the blood pressure pill The heart pill, the
Procardia. And what's the other one?
Ah, H-why-D-are-O-T-O-N.
Oh, that's something to do with water and And Water and, uh,
Blood pressure.
This one tag does say it's for blood pressure
Yeah, I think it works like a water pill type pressure, but the
Procardia's the important one.
Yeah.
You have to take that every day.
Yeah.
You should take that the first thing when you get up
YeahI know.
Well, how come you ain't got taken it?
I took it yesterday, the procardia.
Well, how come you didn't take it today?

In the wasteland
On the way to the Red Queen
It's no wonder our stage clothes
Have dreams to be famous
The trees in the courtyard
Are painted in blood
So I've heard
She hangs the headless
Upside down to drain
EAT ME, DRINK ME
This is only a game
This is only a game
I was invited to
A beheading today
I thought I was a butterfly
Next to your flame
A rush of panic and
The lock has been raped
This is only a game
This is only a game
But then our star rushes in
Feeling like a child and looking
Like a woman
She has been forecast with an
Attempt to kill herself
But the ending didn't test well
EAT ME, DRINK ME
This is only a game
I was invited to
A beheading today
I thought I was a butterfly
Next to your flame
A rush of panic and
The lock has been raped
This is only a game
This is only a game
But then our star rushes in
Feeling like a child and looking
Like a woman
She has been forecast with an
Attempt to kill herself
But the ending didn't test well
EAT ME, DRINK ME
This is only a game
This is only a game
EAT ME, DRINK ME
This is only a game
This is only a game
So now picking my skin
And my scales
I see my horror
Mirrored in the Sundown of your blank stare
I see my horror
Mirrored in the Sundown of your blank stare
EAT ME, DRINK ME
This is only a game
This is only a game
But then our star rushes in
Feeling like a child and looking
Like a woman
She has been forecast with an
Attempt to kill herself
But the ending didn't test well
She has been forecast with an

i wish that you would move to the sun
cause you're like diggin' holes in thin air
and we know that can't be done
i wish that you would cheat with someone
cause you're like diggin' holes in water
and we know that can't be done
bravery and stupidity go hand in hand
i guess that makes me the bravest man
i was quick to learn but slow to understand
well, what can you do
my theories are borrowed from somewhere else
and i never had too many to talk about
but you were real quick, you were quick to point out
well, that was borrowed too
i wish that you would move to the sun
cause you're like diggin' holes in thin air
and we know that can't be done
i wish that you would cheat with someone
cause you're like diggin' holes in water
and we know that can't be done
A little way back
where the end meets the road
Turn your back
& I might reload
A bullet in your head
& one for your brain
Be another one face down in the rain
Little piggy, little piggy
what do you see?
You're lookin' at death
when you're lookin' at me
Little piggy, little piggy
what should you do?
I am the devil what's comin' for you
The moon won't sink
& the sun won't shine
I clean my throat
with terpentine
Everything is true
when you know what's real
A (sick?) black dog
gettin' drunk on the wheel
Little piggy, little piggy
what do you see?
You're lookin' at death
when you're lookin' at me
Little piggy, little piggy
what should you do?
I am the devil & I'm comin' for you
I crawl on the ground
& I start to bleed
I'm the one you dream about
when you sleep
(Eyes of death?)
& bone in blood
Your lungs are freakin' out
when you're drownin' in the mud
Little piggy, little piggy
what do you see?
You're lookin' at death
when you're lookin' at me
Little piggy, little piggy
what should you do?
I am the devil what's comin' for you
I'm runnin' water through,
I'm runnin' water through my mind
I'm runnin' water through,
I'm runnin' water through my mind
Nothing but shops
and roads to go to roads in America
All's best forgot, and it's easy
when you try and remember everything you've come across
Can't turn nothin' off
for the fear that you'll be alone with your own thoughts
I'm runnin' water through,
I'm runnin' water through my mind
I'm runnin' water through,
I'm runnin' water through my mind
Nothing but shops
and roads to go to roads in America
All's best forgot,
and it's easy
when you try and remember everything that you've come across
Can't turn nothing off
for the fear that you'll be alone with your own thoughts
It was grey and there was no sunset
She said she liked it when you spoke in Spanish,
it reminds her of sex
It was grey and it felt flat
She said it leaves me feelin' flat
I said, "Why don't you speak in Spanish?
Why the fuck don't you speak in Spanish, then?"

Dear God, do you wanna tear your knuckles down
And hold yourself?
Dear God, can you climb off that tree?
Made in the shape of a 'T'
Dear God, the paper says
You were the King in the black limousine
Dear John and all the King's men
Can't put your head together again
Before the bullets, before the flies
Before authorities take out my eyes
The only smiling are you dolls that I made
But you are plastic, so are your brains
Dear God, your sky is as blue
As a gunshot wound
Dear God, if you were alive
You know we'd kill you
Before the bullets, before the flies
Before authorities take out my eyes
The only smiling are you dolls that I made
But you are plastic, so are your brains
First off, let me preface this by saying that this isn't a joke at all. I'm am freaking out right now.
Alright, so here's the story - I went out with two friend to shoot part of my final photo project. I love broken / run down buildings, so naturally thats what I decided to shoot. I have to shoot film for class so I let the girls that were with me use my 30d. I set the 30d on ISO 1600 and AV mode at like f/2.2 and handed over the camera. They were going around taking pictures while I was setting up my tripod for my film rebel. I get my tripod set up and got my camera on the tripod. I went to Autofocus the camera and It wouldn't do anything. I tried turning it off and turning it back on - nothing. I looked at the back screen and it said the batteries were dead. Great. So I pulled the batteries out to see what kind they were. CR2's. Ok good. I've got my poverty wizards out in the car - they run on CR2's. I'll run out and get the battery from them. So I run out and grab the poverty wizard receiver and bring it back in with me. As I'm fiddling around with getting the battery cover off, one of the girls snaps two quick photos of me with the 30d. No biggie. I thought nothing of it.
So I pull the battery out of the poverty wizard and mix it with one of the batteries that was in the camera. I turn the camera on. It takes a second to power up, but then the same thing happens. Low battery light blinks. I usually leave my poverty wizards turned on so having another low battery wouldn't be surprising. Oh well. It was worth a shot. Gotta go to Wal-Mart tonight and come back tomorrow. No big deal.
I get the 30d back from the girls and shoot a few shots with the tripod. Everything works wonderfully. I throw the cameras in the bag and think nothing of them. I pull them out today to import the photos from the 30d and take a look at my film camera again. As I'm importing the photos from the 30d, I take out the batteries from my poverty wizard receivers and put them in the film camera. 1/2 battery power left. Alright - so I can go shoot today. Awesome. Then I put the original batteries back in the film camera. Turn the camera on. Boom - full battery power. So I leave the camera on for a minute or two to make sure that the reading isn't just the batteries shocking the camera with whatever power is left i them. It doesn't. Weird. I text my friend and tell her what happened. She texted back "that's weird." This had happened to me before in an old boiler room that had caught fire on the grounds of the insane asylum a few miles from my school except my camera wouldn't auto focus. I think it's probably because of the low light and the f/3.5 of the 18-55 kit lens I was using at the time. But that's besides the point.
As I'm looking through the pictures, I find this picture.
You tell me what it looks like. These were shot with my 30d by the girls. I'm literally crapping my pants right now. In the first one, I see an outline of a person wearing a white shirt with a jacket on and a hat. I don't know what I should do. This is not a joke, I promise you. I really wish I could have gotten some film pictures of this. I didn't get to take a single one of the building at all. It just seems kinda peculiar to me that my film camera wouldn't work at all. That's what makes this so scary to me.
This is not a joke. I have two friends that were there with me that can vouch for it.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!
AP Exams are done and I have three weeks of school left! Graduation June 5 (Woot Woot!!)
There's really no reason for me to get too excited right now, I still have 1000000000 more things to do before I'm completely done with school but ahhhhh without the AP classes I pretty much cruise *dance around*
Oh snap the picha! That's Mercy, Mercy-Maye Lewis. I watched the Legend of Bagger Vance (The only Will Smith movie I hadn't seen BTW, now I've seen them all haha) and I developed a thing for southern belles watching Adele do her thing haha. She inspired my little Mercy.
She'll be at NH soon and Lou and Anne I haven't forgot about you two I've just been INSANELY busy with senior junk but I'm slowly coming back and soon you guys can have me until August!
Meh. I'll probably edit this later with more stuff I did while I was away for like A MONTH. But right now I gotta go shower for school.
Love You Guys!!!!
[Jamie Foxx - Verse 1]
Can I, can I save you from you
cause you know there’s something missing
and that champagne you’ve been sippin’s
not supposed to make you different all the time
it’s starting to feel like the wrong thing to do girl
cause with all that recognition it gets hard for you to listen
to the things that I must say to make you mine
But live girl, have some fun girl, we’ll be fine
trying to convince myself I’ve found one
making the mistake I never learned from
I swear I always fall for your type, yeah (for your type)
tell me why I always fall for your type (for your type)
I just can’t explain this sh-t at all (fall for your type)
I just can’t explain this sh-t at all (fall for your type)
(I believe in people like you)
[Jamie Foxx - Verse 2]
So who am I to judge you on the past, girl
I think there’s a reason for it all
you say that you’re nothing like the last girl
I just pray that you don’t let me down right now
it’s too late, I’m already yours
you just gotta promise me, hearts won’t break
and end up like before
I swear I always fall for your type, yeah (for your type)
tell me why I always fall for your type (for your type)
[Drake]
Look, dress hanging off your shoulder, barely sober
telling me how you moving away and starting over
girl, quit playing you just drunk, you just saying sh-t
oh you dance, dance like how, like ballet and sh-t
oh, wait, no, I get it girl, I’m with it
I’ve been down this road before and yeah I skidded but forget it
damn, yeah, I wonder why I never why I learned my lesson
it’s feeling like the second chance and its the first impression
and I heard it’s nothing new except for someone new
but how you supposed to find the one when anyone will come with you
lyrics courtesy of www.killerhiphop.com
talking to myself but I never listen,
cuz man it’s been a while, and I swear that this ones different
that’s why I’mma take you anywhere you wanna go
let you meet my friends so they can lecture me again about
how reckless I have been
and I’m slowly running out of all the time that I invest in
making all the same mistakes
and I’m just trying to correct it and I fall..

I swear I always fall for your type, for your type
tell me why I always fall for your type, for your type
I just can’t explain this sh-t at all (fall for your type)

So my haul from my latest Alberta, Canada trip is slowly making its way into rotation, though truth be told I'm still behind in other stuff so it will be a toss up as to what I photography next.
These two I just happened to have actually with me (the rest were mailed) and figured it was a good time as any. Both are without box and, sadly, both are flawed, though you can solely point the finger at me for one of them.
The first of two status is the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Black Canary. She's got a pretty plain looking pose, but man, I gotta give it to Shunya Yamashita and the crew at Kotobukiya for creating a final piece that oozes personality and sensuality, despite having the pose of someone trying to get the cricks out of their back.
She's not even that curvy by Bishoujo standards.
Now, this is the one that I personally screwed up. I purchased it for cheap (aftermarket can be painful, though I'm working on a few things atm to get another one) but you'll notice that the statue has a killer Smooth Criminal lean.
Now, the dumbass that I am, I figured I could use hot water and fix it. Turns out not only couldn't I do it, but I ended up snapping a support peg, ripping the right leg out of its socket, and damaging the beautiful leggings. I've put her back together and it's not terrible, but deep down I have much shame, hence my efforts to secure another one.
The leaning thing is weird. I mean, ultimately, she LOOKS OK in that if you get the angle right I think this is the way she's supposed to be - like she's toppling over. But from the various prototype photos and sellers photos on eBay, it seems there are at least three variations` of the right foot, including one that has her foot hovering, and one where her right heel actually touches the ground, as it were.
I am incredibly confused.
Back to the strengths. There's of course her expression. That is very much in line with what I know about the character, and the translation from 2D art to 3D sculpture was completed exceptionally well.
The other aspect that is exceptionally well done are the leggings. The right leg is a bit mangled near the hip, but the right is as the creators intended Yeah, there's that giant seam the back of the leg, but much like with the Star Ace Catwoman, the pattern and size of the patter works out perfectly, adding some texture to the well sculpted legs, which also feature some sublte shadowing. The leggings also create an outline around the legs which looks really neat in person.
Otherwise, the typical strengths of the Kotobukiya Bishoujo line are present here, though the hair isn't quite as detailed as I'd like. But fabric folds and general production valves are quite well done.
The other statue may be one that you're familiar with. Back in the PS2 days, Tamsoft released several discount titles that were meant to be fun, some of which ended up becoming quite popular. Onechanbara, with its scantily clad ladies and zombie chopping ways, was one of the popular ones, spawning titles on several consoles, though it seems the PS4 version was the last new entry in the series.
Of course, character goods spawned, with some better than others. This particular one is of Aya, the main protagonist of the series, and is based on her appearance in the first game, though not quite as dated looking as the actual game model itself.
Released in 2007 by Toy's Work (who I don't know if they're around anymore), there was the standard black bikini version and this one, the red bikini version. I prefer her later look, as captured by Alter in 2008, but when you're in Edmonton, you buy what's available in Edmonton.
Quite honestly, I've never actually seen any merch for sale. Not so much I didn't know it existed, but rather I don't recall any offerings.
Unfortunately for me, this statue was missing her feather boa and a necklace. On the other hand, it was $25 CAD and wasn't broken.
So Aya has some very interesting fashion sense, effectively described as bikini cowgirl wielding katanas - the rest of the characters aren't quite as insane, but they've got their charms. Aya also possesses a demon transformation, which naturally isn't a thing here.
Despite being an older statue, it was designed in a way that after 16 years, the only thing to deal with was dirt and not lean. Hat and katana are removable, as is, to my surprise, her bikini top.
The various photos should give you a sense of the quality. While this wasn't top of the line, the quality you see on this statue is actually quite typical of the offerings back in the day, which is why companies like Megahouse and Alter that took the time to actually properly QC their pieces, stood out. The sculpt itself also feels a bit soft and underdetailined, but that could be me comparing a modern piece with the predominately PVC nature pre 2012 statues. Paint work is a bit crude, but again that's by modern standards and was pretty typical back in the day.
I am so tired I can hardly stay awake......... This pic is weird...... I'll tell you all about it later Tuesday morning EST......... right now I've gotta sleep......... have a guess at what you think you re eeing....... and how we did it!................
Got to Sleep Cheers JezzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............
Next Morning.......... Tuesday 11AM EST ........ Ah yes I feel a bit better now....... where was I?
Oh yeah this drive in studio is set up to automatically shoot all round and 3D images.......
So that each car with all its specific individual characteristics like different wheels and transfers etc can be shown as it is.........
The studio set up up operates automatically.
So to shoot this I did the strobe readings using a flash meter then kept the shutter open in the complete darkness between bursts of flash from the studio gear.
So you have to compose the picture in complete darkness open the shutter wait for the studio to do its thing....... i.e. photograph the car using strobe....... you then close the shutter........ although you are using a slow shutter speed ...... the effective exposure is the instant exposure provided by the strobe.
The only hard thing is to compose the image in complete darkness......... and not have an epileptic fit in the bursts of light....... certainly people effected by strobing light would have found being in this darkness to bright flash light over and over a bit of a problem!
Cheers guys Jez XXXXXX

So, i messed up....
i knew that i would, cause i always mess up, at least once, whenever i try something new :P
but it's cool. i learned from it, so its all good. and the only thing i lost was the pictures that i thought i was taking on friday night (i still wonder if any of them would have been good or not).
apparently i didnt insert the film in the right way (well i sorta did, but not all the way). so it wasn't winding up the way that it should, but i got my dad to help me out with it, and i got a new roll of film in, so time for try 2 :) (it's a good thing i got a pack of 3 the first time).
I'm excited to learn more how the Fujica works (and film cameras in general). I love learning new things! <haha, im such a geek XD
so anyways, today was good. woke up early, played the drums in church this morning. I thought the band did pretty good =)
I was trying to tell my dad (who is the leader of the band) that its much more enjoyable for the congregation to be standing and singing and clapping with us (when we are playing).
so, i was wondering what any of you thought about it?
or about how you think a worship service should go (as in the type of music, and when it's played...)
After church i took a nap, and then we went to go see Harry Potter 6. It was pretty good. :)
i dont really remember the books all that well (since i read them like 2 years ago, and i cant hardly remember a book that i read last week, lol), but overall i've liked the movies better than the books (but that's just me...)
anyways, tomorrow is monday! (gotta start thinking now what to do for bench monday this time!) I'll probably be studying a lot (or maybe not so much...) for my Calc 1 final. I'm so ready for the class to be over, and so ready for 2 weeks of sweet freedom! =)
I hope everyone has a great day! =D
(OMG! got my Owl city ticket! Seeing him in Sept. I've been listening to his new stuff all night. If you've never heard his stuff you ABSOLUTELY MUST!!!!!)
PS- This made it to explore a few days ago, and I didnt even know. It's my second photo to make it! Thanks so much everyone! =D

I'm naturally a morning person, rising early. My wife says I wake up, and BANG, I'm fully awake. It's not totally true. I beat our alarm by 20 minutes today, and have been awake already about two hours.
I still feel totally unfocused, though. My body is a morning person but my mind never wants to play along (most days) and is midday person. I've noticed that since I ride the bus to work almost exclusively now that I've gotten better. It's too easy to drift to the car and then work in a fog.
The bus jogs you aware more, faster, and you've gotta do the social thing to some degree right away.

"Sam: You don't realize, this is good, this doesn't happen often in your life. We can work this stuff out. I want to help you, you know? We need each other...
Andrew Largeman: This isn't a conversation about this being over, it's, it's... I'm not, like, putting a period at the end of this, you know, I'm putting, like, an ellipsis on it, cause I'm- I'm- I'm worried that if I don't figure myself out, if I don't go like land on my own two feet, then I'm just gonna to mess this whole thing up, and this is too important. I gotta go... you changed my life in four days. This is the beginning of something really big. But right now, I gotta go.
[Andrew decides not to go to LA and finds Sam crying in a phonebooth]
Sam: What are you doing?
Andrew Largeman: Remember that idea I had, about working stuff out on my own, and then finding you once I worked stuff out?
Sam: The ellipsis?
Andrew Largeman: Yeah, the ellipsis, it's dumb. It's dumb. It's an awful idea. I'm not gonna do it, okay? Cause like you said, this is it. This is life. And I'm in love with you... I think that's the only thing I've ever really been sure of in my entire life. And I'm really messed up right now, and I got a whole lot of stuff I have to work out, but I don't want to waste any more of my life without you in it. And I think I can do this. I mean, I want to. I have to, right?
Sam: Yeah. Yes!
Andrew Largeman: So what do we do? What do we do? "
Quotes from the last scenes in the movie 'Garden State'. I really liked this movie. The best scene was when Andrew gets on top of the digger in the middle of the rainstorm and takes control of his life again. For the first time in a long time he lets go and can feel strong emotions again. There was something so right and positive about that moment. Your best moment can come in the middle of a rainstorm in an abandonned quarry in Newark. Why not? Every moment is unique and full of potential.
...some flower shots from the top of monona terrace that came out okay...they may not fit the quotes, but they are beautiful and so are the quotes.
